Show Love with Language this Christmas – Welsh Christmas Greetings.
Some say it’s the most wonderful time of the year, a time of warm and fuzzy feelings and heart-felt gifts being exchanged, a time of family get-togethers and long-held traditions.
As a Spaniard living in Wales, I can sometimes miss the traditions of my native country at this time of year – traditions like the Christmas lottery, tapas on Christmas Eve, the 12 grapes on New Years’ Eve and the three wise men visiting on the 6th January!
For me, therefore, there is nothing more heart-warming than someone greeting me with Feliz Navidad when I bump into them to bring a bit of Spain to Wales.
As Nelson Mandela said: If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.
Living in Wales, we know that everyone speaks English, but for some the roots of their Welsh heritage run deep and a love of the Welsh language is clear.
So why not show a little extra care this Christmas if you are staying in Wales, by greeting your Welsh friends, family and acquaintances with a Welsh ‘Happy Christmas’.
