Recognition in the translation/creation process

I believe translating is an act of creation, comprising three stages: idea, expression and recognition. Before I start translating, I read the source text. Every translator starts with an idea. I do not have a clear concept of what shape the translation may take, only a desire to render the same message in the target language. Finally, I start writing. Choosing the best expression for my idea. I do my first draft. Let the document (and me) rest for a few hours. Then, I may move a block of text or cut sentences to express my idea perfectly.
